Hi!
Over the weekend, I had installed FC4 to upgrade my fedora box. Have been using FC since its first release and with the new install of FC4, am stuck with the following issues:
* Helvetica Font:
How do I install Helvetica Font (not a Windows TTF) so that I can keep my Desktop sleek & good looking.
* vi - no colors / syntax highlights - Despite vim-enhanced pkg being installed and syntax color stuff enabled in /etc/vim/vimrc, vi editor looks bland with monochromatic look
* dependency issues libstdc++5 (GLIB* ***) - Efforts to run many packages fail with dependency issues on libstdc++ so.5 (while libstdc++*.so.6 is available and has been softlinked to the required so.5, many packages like mysql-query-browser etc fail
* KMail - restoration of Mail from backup from FC3 version of Kmail - I copied & pasted my backedup Mail dir from KMail into the new home directory - still Kmail looks blank. But if I change my home dir to /backup/home/homedir and login again, I get to have the KMail as it was
Any hints / suggestions / comments / help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.
As for the KMail, I am glad you raised this point, I am yet to get that part working in my setup (ie. haven't tried yet). So I am guessing you need more than just the Mail folder. Looking through it, it doesnt seem to contain any configuration files, so perhaps you need to copy over your old '.kde' folder to for all settings related to KDE based programs??
Kmail and Kontact don't seem to have their own config directory under home, so thats my best guess.
You will have to search for ms truetype fonts or corefonts on the web. You can also get someone using windoze to copy their fonts for you and then you can install them on Linux.
