FC4 hangs on swap file. HELP

Hello there. I have had FC4 up and running for 6 months withoug problems. Now suddenly, it hangs on startup in creating the swap file.
I have disconnected the Floppy and Cd (the nest two lines in the FSTAB file) and commented the lines out with #.
Can anyone help with the Swap file, manually check it or something?

Just reformat it:

mkswap /dev/hda2

Of course, substitute your actual swap device for "/dev/hda2". You can then verify it works by uncommenting the swap line in /etc/fstab, and running:

swapon -a

These two commands run without any problems.

Where can I find the sequence of commands that are run to boot the Linux system. I would like to run the lines manually to see where it goes wrong.

I can boot in as emergency user.
When I boot as single user, the system freezes when swap is set up.
Same when I boot normally, except then it's in graphical mode.

Any help?????

Then it's likely not the swap, but the next step. The swap is setup in /etc/rc.sysinit.

I have found out that it's not the swat itself, it's most likely the swat partition that has crashed with some more of the file system.

I managed to copy all the data from hda to another HD hdb and reinstalled fc4 on a new HD. Copied all the data back and system up and running now.

Have not yet checked if the other HD is bad in someway.

This thred is hereby stopped.
