FC4/FC5 installation problems
 
my computer compaq presario SR1103WM has 120 gb hdd from western digital ata w/write speed of 7500 ,mainboard by Micro-star International Bios By Phoenix Technologies Chipset Intel i845G I have 768 DDR mb installed Ram , cpu is a celeron D 325 has a FSB of 133MH/z ... I can't install fedora core 4 or fedora core 5 fc4 just cycles in and out to my bios boot screen where as fc5 hits the unpacking screen and stops the cdrom drive.... does anyone have any suggestions as to what it may be? or how i can get its to install...:scratch:

You might need to reburn that ISO. That is where I would start.

Before reburning, I recommend testing the CDs, there should be an option to check media before you begin the install.

ive used the CD'S to install FC4 and FC5 on my test computer its an old desktop has a very small hdd and yes ive tested the media also ran dignostics on my current computer,everything is ok, cant seem to sort out why fedora wont install :(

How about trying text mode install, or switching in a CD drive from another computer, to see if either of these help?

I'll try the text install, ive got another cd/dvd drive in from another puter but its the slave drive, would it make a difference if i switched them or removed the cd rw thats the master and set the dvd drive to master?

It could be worth disconnecting the drive you're currently trying to install from, and setting the other to master and trying to install from that.
