FC4: Error creating netlink socket

During boot, after

"Initalizing hardware...storage network audio done"

I get these error messages:

"Error creating netlink socket (Permission denied)"

"Error - unable to connect to audit system"

What do they mean? How do I solve this problem?

Hi

I believe this problem is related to SELinux. Try booting with SELinux disabled.

Yes, disabling SELinux removed these error messages from boot.

I wonder whether I should keep SELinux disabled. I mean what are the advantages/risks/whatever of doing so.
A pointer to a review on this subject is welcomed.

Time ago I have had other problems trying to make run some software with SELinux enabled. In the end it was possible by means of specific tricks.

There are definitely some advantages to SELinux if you use your computer for mission-critical chores, like a web server, intranet server, etc. If, like me, you simply use your computer for home use and have a good firewall setup, SELinux is more of a nusiance than anything else.

Just my opinion. but I generally disable it.
