FC4 boot problems...

What happened :

Installed Windoze (Had to ...)
Lost GRUB
Re-installed FC4
Deleted old kernel old installation installed
GRUB only shows WinXP

Tried

root (hd0,1)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.15-1.1833_FC4 ro
initrd /initrd-2.6.15-1.1833_FC4.img
boot

Things started but got some kernel panic errors and it stopped there.

The simplest solution would be to re-install everything again I think... But it's LOOOOOOOOONG!

You need to tell grub where your root partition is located.
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.15-1.1833_FC4 ro root=LABEL=/

Help to know the exact errors. Are you sure hd0,1 is correct?

I reinstalled it finally...

And I found I could have just re-installed the boot manager in the "upgrade" options the first time...

I'm not sure that hd0,1 is correct, but when I typed root alone, it told me (hd0,1). The Win partition was there before the Linux one.

I was not sure of the root label so I didn't include it.
