FC3 Test3 on external drive - booting problem !!

Hi,

I was using Suse on my external drive and thought to give a try with fedora. I have installed fedore core 3 Test 3, and logged in through rescue mode to edit the initrd file. when i tried to

mount -o loop /tmp/initrd /tmp/a

it gives error message "could not find any device /dev/loop#".
then i checked in the /dev folder, there are no loop* files over there.
Tried to "modprobe loop", for that also i got error.

I dont have any knowledge on fedore. Can anyone help.

Cheers..Mahendra.

Got answer to my question....

It is not a image file, it is a cpio archive file... now it is working fine.. but still have problems installing..
