Unhappy FC3 server don't init services as spected

Hello everyone, i've installed fc3 into a PIII celeron with 64mb of RAM and with 365 MB of swap.

With that memory the graphic system doesn't work properly (maybe due to that the on-board graphic card stoles 4 mb of ram to the video) and i edited /etc/inittab and set the default runlevel to 3.
I also used chkconfig to apply all the services i wanted to runlevel 3.

But what big was my surprise when after restarting the services i configured to run in level 3 doesn't start. :S

Somebody has experienced things like this?

When you run:

# chkconfig --list

are the desired services listed as “on” in runlevel 3?

If Yes, then try starting one of them manually. For example:

# service httpd start

If No, recheck that you added them like this:

# chkconfig --level 3 httpd on
--OR--
# chkconfig httpd on

64MB is a bit skimpy, but FC3 should run in runlevel 3 with that much.

Fedora Core 3 x86 Release Notes: http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/release-notes/fc3/x86/

"...Memory Requirements

This section lists the memory required to install Fedora Core 3.

Minimum for text-mode: 64MB
Minimum for graphical: 192MB
Recommended for graphical: 256MB..."

Thaks for the tip, but now it works .
Initially i configured everything with chkconfig to start at runlevel 3 and i double-checked that but it didn't worked, so the machine started withoud that services going up at init (no network, no ssh, no httpd, ...).

But strangely now it does what it is supposed to do . Maybe somewhere i did something wrong and i didn't noticed it until i went throught all the steps again and i did it correctly

I'm planning to upgrade with 128MB of sdram but i don't want the graphical interface (i don't have a monitor for that machine :P).

Best regards.
