FC3: how to update Xfce from 4.06 to 4.2

So I tried using Red hat's up2date tool and it didn't have any repository for XFCE and i updated ALL packages.

then i tried using yum to update packages called: xfce4, xfce-w and no packages were found..

then i went to xfce.org and downloaded the graphical installer and the installer (in xfce under root) says:
Checking for package config tool... not found.

i was told to install pkg-tool but i can't "yum" pkg-tool
are there any package config tools for Fedora 3?

Go to this post: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...highlight=XFCE
Follow the instructions in the last post.

That worked for me.

If you look on the xfce website, there are rpms for Fedora, which will upgrade 4.0.x to 4.2.

ok so i had to do a lot of stuff
first, for any newbie, i recommend installing yumex. it's a graphical interface for yum and it's very intuitive.. i searched for pkg-config and installed it.. then i installed xfce4-lib then i upgraded gcc and i also installed gcc for c++. finally i was able to get it installed but couldn't install using alsa but i'm fine without sound control.

Thanks everyone!
