FC2 Kernel Panic fatal exception in interrupt
I've been running Fedora Core 1 without difficulty. On doing a fresh install (not an upgrade) of Fedora Core 2 final version, the install completes normally, but Linux will not boot.
The boot process starts normally and enters interactive startup, mounts root as read-write, and then the system freezes for about two minutes, before producing the following error: <0>Kernel Panic: Fatal exception in interrupt In interrupt handler - not syncing The system: Asus P4PE motherboard with P4 2.4-Ghz and 512 MB RAM, nVidia FX-5600 256MB AGP graphics. I have also posted this in Bugzilla but wanted to post here as well in case anyone has further info or is encountering the same problem. Thanks. --James |
Supplemental info; here is the panic screen. Also, I am able to boot from the rescue CD, and I tried turning kudzu off, which made no difference.

Same problem....
I'm having the same problem, any solution to this?
|
Check out the fedora-lists... there's a bug dealing with asus mobos and a workaround...
|
Actually, not sure it's an ASUS mobo, it's an older HP workstation. Could you send me a link to that bug? thnx

http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/
you're going to have to search through these but it was May or June if I remember correctly... |
I am getting the exact same painc screen trying to install Fedora on an older IBM machine that already has an older Red Hat install working. I couldn't find anything searching the lists, anyone solve this yet?
