FC2 - kernel-2.6.8-1.521 not loading

Hello
I ran up2date on FC2 to load the kernel-2.6.8-1.521 kernel. Systems logs says that it was successful:

[Sat Nov 6 15:50:29 2004] up2date availablePackageList from network
[Sat Nov 6 15:55:05 2004] up2date installing packages: ['kernel-2.6.8-1.521']
[Sat Nov 6 15:58:12 2004] up2date Modifying bootloader config to include the new kernel info
[Sat Nov 6 15:58:12 2004] up2date Adding 2.6.8-1.521 to bootloader config
[Sat Nov 6 15:58:12 2004] up2date Adding 2.6.8-1.521 to bootloader config
[Sat Nov 6 15:58:12 2004] up2date Running lilo with the new configuration
[Sat Nov 6 15:58:12 2004] up2date Modifying bootloader config to include the new kernel info
[Sat Nov 6 15:58:12 2004] up2date Adding 2.6.8-1.521 to bootloader config
[Sat Nov 6 15:58:12 2004] up2date Running lilo with the new configuration
[Sat Nov 6 15:58:12 2004] up2date deleting /var/spool/up2date/kernel-2.6.8-1.521.i686.hdr
[Sat Nov 6 15:58:12 2004] up2date deleting /var/spool/up2date/kernel-2.6.8-1.521.i686.rpm

But no information about this new kernel was loaded in the bootloader or in grub. I rebooted my machines and no luck. Up2date says:

You system is currently running kernel-2.6.5-1.358, but the newest kernel is kernel-2.6.8.521. It is recommended that you reboot at the first opportunity to test this new kernel..

Any ideas?????

thx

How about rebooting and at the boot screen you should see both kernels listed.Select the newest kernel and hit enter and the new kernel should load.I know that you can go to the menu>system settings>bootloader and you should see both kernels listed and you can choose which one to be default.I tried the new kernel but had a problem with burning iso's and so reverted back to the previous kernel.

How about downgrading to 2.6.7? Unless there's something new in 2.6.8 that you really, really need?
