FC17 Stable Kernel

Hi,
when I install FC17 the kernel version is: 3.3.4.5
is this a beta version or the latest stable version for fedora 17. if it is a beta version, what is the latest stable kernel version.

Thanks.

The installation media has software that was available as of the date the media was created. In the case of Fedora 17, that was May 22nd, 2012. There have been many hundreds of updates since then. You should use the update tool to bring your system up to date. The current stable kernel for Fedora 17 is kernel-3.6.10-2; that will be installed when you update the system. The latest test kernel is kernel-3.7.1-1, which will not be installed unless you specifically download it.

Thanks macemoneta.
For future use, is there a web site/reference to check for the latest stable kernel.
Thank you for your help.

Do you mean for Fedora 17 ? Then please look into "updates/<arch>"
http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedo...ux/updates/17/

But it's much easier to type # yum install kernel
.. Then you will be informed about the latest version.
