I am going to do an upgrade from FC1 to FC2 on one of my spare boxes (Want to see if the new kernel 2.6.6-1 fixes the Nvidia issue) and I was curious if anyone knew about the updgrade process.

More importantly whether the install removes the old packages and source or if it just adds and updgrades leaving all the old and unused packages.

I upgraded from FC1 to FC2 and also installed FC2 from scratch. There were a lot of packages left over form the upgrade. Other files didn't have a home anymore... Also, I believe the gnome menu issue extended from the upgrade. I really didn't like the fact the my gnome menus were all messed up. (you'll see alot of people that upgraded looking for a "how do i edit gnome menu" thread)

I would not recommend an upgrade. It worked when I upgraded, but realized that a fresh install was the best choice.

As far as the nvidia drivers are concerned, the kernels will not change anything. NVIDIA has to upgrade their drivers. Until then, you may have to recompile your own kernel or use other rpm kernels with 4kstacks disabled (i think also regparm)... Hopefully, this will help. Good luck!
