FC$ up2date difficulty

I used to have minor problems with up2date in FC3, but I got around using up2date -u --force

I switched about a month ago to FC4 and to get it up and running quick I installed Everything.

Running up2date from the GUI does not update any packages so I thought let's do the same I used to do in FC3.

After a long time I receive the following:

Not that I have something against polish but I can care less about the Language as I don't speak it; so I tried to exclude it:

up2date -fu --exclude=kde-i18n-Polish-3.4.2-0.fc4.1

But I get the same message.

How can I work around it? Should I uninstall one or more RPMs?

try yum instead of up2date. up2date has always had strange behaviours.

i agree..use yum or apt4rpm. If its because up2date has a GUI and yum/apt do not, you can use Yumex (for yum of course) or Synaptic (for apt).

I tried yum update. It took a long time, and
I ended up having exactly the same package conflicts.

I even tried
yum update --exclude=kde-i18n-Polish-3.4.2-0.fc4.1
and
yum update --exclude=kdelibs-3.4.2-0.fc4.1

like this no updates are performed

Mabe I should try to remove one of the packages?

I'm trying to get to grips with what I was told was a great operating system but all I've had from the start is trouble. God knows Windows is so much easier even though it's a pile of M$ crap.

How to fix this as it's obviously not a problem specifically with up2date. And does this mean that the others were installed/updated without error? As usual there's a lack of confirmation.

Try this:

yum update kdelibs*
yum update kde-i18n*
yum update

When you get a dependency like this one, try installing the problem children by themselves.

BTW, up2date sucks. Use yum instead. And if you can't get by without a GUI, then install yumex.

yum install yumex
