Well, as I wrote, my installations refuse to update because they think they are up to date. This can't be true F16 had updates on a daily basis. I downloaded the f17.iso about a month ago.

I had a look into the Fedora Wiki kernel updates log, it says most recent is kernel 3.5.2-3.fc17 and not 3.4.6-2.fc17. What can cause this? I have activated the repositories "Fedora 17_x86_64" and "Fedora 17_x86_64_Updates". And while I'm at it, how do I add sources for packages? What do you recommend? Thanks in advance .

I think there's a Sources repository for the regular repository and the updates repository.

So as there is no misunderstanding: I don't need the sources, I need the (rpm)-packages. I'll try "pkcon get-updates" as soon as I have internet again (probably tomorrow).

the download ONLY yum plugin can be handy for the 1 or 2 times in 3 years that you might NEED it
but it is not going to be used much

if you are not getting updates for 17 you might want to frist look to see just WHAT repos ARE installed and if they are on or off
then use the gui to turn them on or off
or bash and nano or gedit
to change the "enabled=1" to 0 or the 0 to a 1 in the *.repo file
as to what to install

@abrinster "pkcon get-updates" produced about 60 - 80 lines of bugfixes, security upgrades etc. How do I download those when the normal updatefacility won't work?

I don't understand what you are referring to. I'm a long time SuSE user but with absolutely no experience with fedora. <edit> Okay, I opened the link with firefox and saw what you mean. Question is void . </edit>

Did that. On are F17 and F17-Updates, all the rest is off (Source, Debug, Test in their various permutations).

Umm, what program does that? The software update and installation gadget has no tab for that?

I'l have a look. But which ones do you suggest?

Update: Hah! That did it (I guess "pkcon"). I just started the gui package for software actualization and 96 updates are available. Downloading now .
