executing shell code from stack


i guess because of ExecShield that has patched the kernel i cannot execute some shell code from stack. is there any way to disable this?

As root type

echo "0" > /proc/sys/kernel/exec-shield
&
echo "0" > /proc/sys/kernel/exec-shield-randomize

does not work... i still get Segmentation error. what works is:

setarch i686 <command>
but i don't get the output that i expected - that is i get no output at all of the assembler programm. comments?

Err OK.

The setarch command just reports a different architecture it has nothing to do with exec-shield and shellcode.

Would I be right in guessing you are trying to buffer overflow an executeable with the SuID bit set?
