CUPS is an acronym for Common Unix Printing System. It is probably installed
on your system. In a web browser type localhost:631 and if it's installed, it will
open and it's an easy to follow GUI. You should go to
http://www.linuxprinting.org/
and read that stuff. Look up your printer and see how well it's supported, and
under which printing system with which driver.

I'm getting a "plugin could not open image" error when I try to open some of PSD files, much llike you said, some open fine.

Can't help except to sympathize. Maybe one day Adobe will either port PS
to Linux or make the code available. Another problem is that GIMP can't
handle a tiff file with layers. It flattens it, even if you open one you created
in PS with layers. Very bad, since tiff is the best format for photos, and is
available across platforms.

Have you tried WINE to run Photoshop without Windoze?
http://www.winehq.com/
looks promising but I haven't attempted it yet. [/B]

Yes. IMO Wine is drunk. Can't get good support, and it doesn't work
well with what will run under it. The Adobe software was designed for
Windoze, unfortunately, and since I've already paid for Windoze and for
it, I use it there - where it works better than any other software I've
ever used. As a matter of fact, I'm posting to you in Firefox from Windoze
at the moment, because I had to scan and print some things, and neither
my scanner nor printer are properly supported YET in Linux. They will be,
but until then, at least I can dual boot and get my work done.
