Error in Smart Package Manager using FC5

get following error code when updating Smart.

Invalid XML file:
/var/lib/smart/channels/development%%http:__download.fedora.redhat.com_pub_fedora_linux_core_development_i386_repodata_repom d.xml
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...ata/repomd.xml
mismatched tag: line 16, column 3

I guess the repo has moved.
How do i find where its gone and then update Smart ?

Is yumex better ?

I will be reinstalling FC5 later as I have several errors - like Gnome wont load at all now, amarock broken etc - any advice to follow to ensure my /home is not lost.

Thanks
