Epson Perfection V500 scanner is not visible

My new scanner is not visible for SANE. I have tried Scanner tool (xsane) and Simple scan. I have just installed F15 instead of F13. The V500 is connected with USB. The scanner are tested on a windows PC and work fine.

The Sane project lists the scanner as "unsupported". I went to Epsom's site, looked up the scanner, and it leads you to an AVASYS site, and they do supply a driver for that scanner.

See this link -->http://www.avasys.jp/lx-bin2/linux_e/scan/DL2.do

I have no way to know if it will work or not. There are packages there for several main line distros, including Fedora 15.

If that doesn't work, you can always do what I have done with my unsupported HP scanner. Install Virtual Box, install the win drivers on v-box. Its a little inconvenient, however it works, and I don't have to boot my system to use the scanner.

Hope this helps.
