Talking Enemy Territory success

dont know if this have been posted before but i had some trouble getting Enemy Territory up and running on my laptop with Nvidia go card. I have searched forums and Google but can't really find anything that helped me so here's what i did:

I installed the Nvidia drivers after the "export IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH=true" syntax covered in many threads.

Then i installed ET, started it and got a black screen with no sound.

Tried glxinfo and found: direct rendering: No! And glxgears had only a black window.

Then after a massive Google search i found something that worked for me,
the Nvidia drivers don't remove/update(whatever) the libGL files in /usr/X11R6/lib/tls, and after a rename of those files i had direct rendering: Yes! and glxgears appeared visually

...and best of all: Enemy Territory runs !!

and so will probably also quake3 etc etc also.

maybe this will help others that have the same problem?

same thing

hey! im so glad i found this thread. i was scouring the internet for the solution you put together here.
so in all, ive basically done the same thing you did
glxgears is blank, and direct rendering is off.
you said that all you had to do was rename some of those files, but i wasnt quite sure what i should rename them too.
what did you do for this?
thanks!

Just rename them to libGL_old or something, i renamed them because i wanted to see if it worked. You can also remove them completely, after a rename they aren't used anyway...

best regards
