Editing Gnome Menu in FC2
Hi,
How do I edit the program groups, and the contents of them (the 'shortcuts' for want of a better word? I can't change them from within my account, as they are read only. And if, logged in as root, i navigate to applications://, go to games, and click new folder, then nautilus crashes. I just want to reorganise my sloppily laid out programs. Tips? |

Menu editing is disabled in fedora core 2... not sure how to renable it for 2.6 but I tried the 2.4 menu editing method and it screwed up my gnome really bad... I had to delete the .gnome files and reconfigure...

I have the same issue... I upgraded from FC1 to FC2.. I'm not sure if that would be the cause.
Everything I install that is not FC2 related, ( winex, realone, quake3 ) appears in like 3 -4 different sections of the gnome menu... I'm clueless. |
clikc the gnome menu, right click on any entries in the menu - u'll know what can be done!

it broke my menu :( To be fair the second bit is impossible as /etc/X11/desktop-menus/ doesn't exist
Looks like that's on the right track though. Maybe someone with linux smarts could figure a way to make it work on FC2 |

I just used the /usr/share/applications dir and deleted .desktop files I didn't want and created new ones for the ones I wanted to add like gnome-session-properties... you can specify icons as well as where the item is located but it takes some digging around to see how the others are set up...

Waaahahhahahahah.....
Why no editor? How does this compare to the use of pannels / sub pannels? how can I script a pannel? I.e. pannel structure recreates directory stucture By pannels I kinda mean draws. |
