Does it matter if /etc/modules.conf is missing?

I am now online with Fedora 3 (2.6.9-1.667) after a bit of a struggle getting my speedtouch 330 USB ADSL modem to work. As you can see from this post, it's all working just fine now.

My only concern is a message I'm getting while booting up. Various messages appear on screen, and then the following is displayed...

Starting ADSL connection: grep /etc/modules.conf no such file or directory

The system waits for about 7 seconds, and then continues with the boot process. As far as I can tell, it's non-existence doesn't seem to affect anything.

Should I be concerned about this? What is this file, and what does it do?

No it doesn't matters with the non-existence of modules.conf. This file was for 2.4 kernels. With FC@ 2.6 kernels are installed which requires modprobe.conf instead of modules.conf. Either way both these files are for modules installation / configuration. For more info read Modules-Howto from www.tldp.org
