Okay, I consider myself kinda a guru of sorts, and I don't really know how to fix this problem.. I do not know if I can even explain this right but I'll try.
I have installed apache, cause for sum reason I never thought I would need sql, so then I did an install of sql and needed, (hopefully all) librarys etc that php/sql, and apache needed to work together...now I get everything running.
I have added admin account password to mysql. I do not know if I have to add more users other than the one user 'shop' and my database called shop.
Now when I try and make a call from apache with any phpbackend etc, I get no responce from the sql server.
It' seems to me apache and the sql server are not talking correctly. Do I need to recompile apache?
no, u dont need to recompile apache. is the mysqld running? check
ps -e | grep mysqld
that should display the process number if running
how did u install mysql. rpm? how did u start it and what error messages do u receive.
u can find info in my.cnf where to find an error-log of mysql. might be in var/lib/mysql/mysqld.log
did u install the perl Mysql package? u need that to make the database connection with perl. if not go http://search.cpan.org
and get it. If u ve installed the module there'll be a documentation available on your box by typing
perldoc Mysql
did u place the perl script in the cgi-bin of the server? did u
chmod 0755 file.cgi
or chmod 0777 file.cgi ?
What does the server say? Any error messages?
well what I would like to happen is apache2 and mysql work together.
there must be something I am over looking, when any user on the machine can not just type:
mysqladmin create thedatabasename
and it creates for you... so mysql is working though I know this much, but apache isn't ? .pl I have done that.. anything else, cgi I have working have had for awhile now.
