Displaying web images as background image on desktop

Is there a way I can take and display a web image from its location on the web and display it on my desktop, or even a web page as my background image? I'm running Core 6 i386.

In KDE you can do it by opening the "Configure Desktop" dialog from the right-click menu. Click "Advanced Options" on the Background dialog and check the "Use the following program for drawing the background" check box. Then select kwebdesktop. Click the Modify button to customize the URL to display, then click the OK button. Make sure the "No picture" radio button is selected, and click OK. You should now have the web page you selected as your desktop background.
