Dialup

I am using GNOME for the first time and would like someone to tell me how to put an icon on my desktop or panel to dialout.
Right now I have about six steps (including going root) to make a connection.
Couldn't find anything on a search.
Thanks

This is for fedora?
To dial out with fedora - you use the GUI called "network device control" from the gnome menue. It's a one-step process and you don't need to be root.

At the commandline, one needs only invoke wvdial.

So what are your six steps?
