D-Link Wireless USB adaptor DWL 122 and Core 3

I am trying to set this thing up remotely on a friend's system. I have followed Julián Coccia's instructions on how to set this up, however I found that this is not so straight forward, as he makes it appear. On another "howto" it says that the device needs to turn on the transmitter in order for it to properly operate. I don't think this is needed with newer versions fo the wlan-ng drivers, since we had it working for a bit, before, but the device seemed to lose connection.

Anyone has got this to work properly? Were the wlan drivers all you needed to do to have it running?
