crossover office doesn't see CDROM on FC5

I thought I'd give FC5 a try and installed it on a spare PC. I installed CXO version 5.1 standard and it installs ok (well it runs)

On trying to install windows software from a cdrom, I have to manually point CXO at the cd in /media using the "alternative cdrom tab in the cxo installer"(the cdrom tab is greyed out) . This works ok to install but if an app needs the cd in the cdrom drive in order to run then the app fails. I placed a sym link in "dosdevices" that points to /media/* but this did not work.(works ok though to browse the cd from the command line)

On Mandriva with the cdrom listed in /etc/fstab and mounted in /mnt/cdrom I have no problems. FC5 has the mount info in /mtab and mounts to /media/xxx where xxx is the cdrom title.

anyone know where I am going wrong or got CXO working on FC5 ?

thanks

Andy

This may not be the problem, but FC5 is moving (or "has moved") to udev as a "more flexible" replacement for /dev hard-coded things. You should read the release notes re udev and check you device settings in /etc/udev.

had a look at this, created /dev/cdrom with udev and mounted the cdrom to /mnt/cdrom with no luck

I think I need to know how CXO searches for a cdrom

thanks anyway
