Creating Live CD
 

hi all,
i have installed Fedora 2 with minimal RPMS in my system, i have seen the size of thsoe is not taking more than a CD. i am interested in creating Live CD with that minimum RPM set, i have got some information from net, no-where it is related with Fedora, all with different distributions, each following different methods for doing this. pl tell me the procedure for creating.

i have gone thru that site, heis giving for slackware distribution, i want to create Live CD for Fedora 2 distribution, i am chaning the kernel also, i am taking latest kernel version than which is coming with Fedora 2. any way thanks for your reply.

i have gone through the documentation of the site www.linux-live.org, there they specified that ovlfs doesn't support for kernel-2.6 series. shall i go with it.

true... i'd forgotten about that... do you have some specific need for kernel 2.6??

yes, right now i am working on kernel 2.6.8.1, so no one will prefer backward compatibility, that's why i am interested in building that the distro on that kernel. thank u for reply. if u have any suggestions regarding this pl let me know

yes, i know... my point was that if you didn't have any specific technical needs for 2.6 then you have the OPTION of using the perfectly good 2.4 for the live cd, so that you could at least give linux-live.org a try...

i can also understand if you have some psychological reason for not wanting to have anything but 2.6 on the cd...

anyways, did you read the linux journal article i linked?? what did you think??

another thing you could do is search for some good fedora-based live cd distros and then study their build methods...

well, linux-live.org is now designed for linux 2.6.x last time i looked...

i agree with you, i think it's so much more worthwhile to actually read instructions and learn how to do this from the bottom up (making our own scripts) than it is to download someone else's magic scripts and patched kernels, etc... hehe...

of course distro build kits are nice and they do serve a purpose, but i'm not really a big fan of the methods linux-live.org uses for making live cds... if you want a distro build kit to play with on the side while you hack on your own live cd from scratch take a look at T2:
