Core 2 server

hi, i keep having problems with my windows computers which are using my linux server pretty much all the time. all documents and mail etc run from the server.

Whats happening is that the windows computers appear to keep on hanging and i keep getting a lot of errors in the system log of my linux server...

Aug 13 22:23:02 linux smbd[6632]: [2004/08/13 22:23:02, 0] lib/util_sock.c:get_peer_addr(975)
Aug 13 22:23:02 linux smbd[6632]: getpeername failed. Error was Transport endpoint is not connected
Aug 13 22:23:02 linux smbd[6632]: [2004/08/13 22:23:02, 0] lib/util_sock.c:read_socket_data(365)
Aug 13 22:23:02 linux smbd[6632]: read_socket_data: recv failure for 4. Error = Connection reset by peer

these just keep on repeating, around about the times when these hangs are happening but bit of a newbie and none of that log means anything to me.

Is this a problem with the server or is it a problem with my windows computers?

The server is running Fedora core 2 and has all the latest updates via yum

The windows computers are both running windows xp home edition with service pack 2?

Thanks

It looks like there are some issues with XP SP2 and Samba 3.0.6. 3.0.7 is supposed to be released soon with some fixes for XP SP2 and Fedora will more than likely release updated packages. Samba 2.2.11 has already been released to fix some issues with XP SP2, but obviously this does not help you out.

If I were you I might submit a bug report with the Fedora or Samba team.
