Core 1 MySQL error after kernel update

I just ran a yum update on my webserver running Core 1 and after a reboot I'm getting a MySQL timeout error. I dont think its kernel specific either as I rebooted back to the older kernel and got the same problem.

However although it says service failed MySQL is running ok it appears... can anyone help me fix the error?

Thanks

*bump*

I have the same problem

"Timeout error occured trying to start MySQL Deamon"
"Starting MySQL [FAILED]"

I updated from RH9 to FC1. Problem since then..
