Question Copying files on Fedora Apache


Dear Friends,

I've tried to copy my files from Xamp httdocs in windows to /var/www/html,
but I can't paste the file, what should I do so I can paste the files ?
I have logged in as a root..

Thanks for the info..

What tool are you using to paste ?
Why not use scp (in putty that's pscp).
Note that if you wrote the files on MS, you'll have to use the dos2unix cli tool to cvt the line endings to Linux std.

I use dolphin and konqueror, i can copy but can't paste it on /var/www/html

Permissions issue. You can make /var/www/html file writable by all to solve the problem.

Don't change perms to world write, BIG security hole!
Instead, copy/paste to a temp area eg /tmp, then login as root and move the files into the Document area.
Remember to check perms/ownerships and amend as reqd.
