Copy Image of System to larger drive
I am running Fedora 10 and would like to move from my 40gb hard disk to a larger (320gb drive).
I would like to take an exact image of the smaller drive and put this on the bigger drive. What is the best way to do this? Thanks in advance |
I would use Clonezilla and make an exact copy of the disk to the 320GB drive. You can then resize the partition in the 320GB drive using GParted using SystemRescueCD. This way you willl not have to boot your original hard disk.

i have a question then, can i make an image of say a seagate 40gb, and put it on a WesternDigital 200gb? or does it both have to be seagate?

You could always boot up with a live cd, tar up your system, then untar it on the bigger drive. You might have to tweak a few things but it shouldn't be too difficult.
