configure /lib/cpp fails sanity check

hi,

I'm using Fedora Core 2. I have a Dell 2400. I've been trying to get my WindowMaker desktop perfect ;o) I have hit a problem, not just with this. Whenever I run the ./configure script for a lot of packages it tells me my /lib/cpp fails a sanity check. This has happened with WindowMaker 0.91 and a few other packages I have tried to install.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? I've given Linux quite a bit of space so decided to install just about everything in an attempt to get it working. I have pretty much everything in the development category installed in a hope that its something here I'm doing wrong.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
