.config for precompiled kernels?

Hey everyone,

I'd like to know where I can find the .config files used to make official Fedora Core RPM kernels. Just so there's a general idea on what options are supported by default.

Thanks,

Vince

usually there's a config-<kernel version> in the /boot dir, but i don't think this method will help much, since the precompiled versions have complied nearly everything into them (they have to work on a lot of different machines). use your lspci & dmesg output, your manuals and maybe a look onto your chips to build the kernel with the right options. there's also documentation inthe kernel source about various hardware.

sl mritch.

If it is enabled in the kernel, there is a /proc/config.gz file of the running kernel. Use zcat and redirect the output to a file where you want it.

Fedora's RPMs install a file called /boot/config-<kversion>-<distro_version>, so in the case of 2.6.14-1.653 that would be /boot/config-2.6.14-1.653, copy that to your kernel's source tree as .config and you're set.
