Cleaning up menus in gnome/fedora

I am just learning Linux (for a month now) and am trying to make it my home desktop of choice.

I am doing very well but still learning. Part of learning for me is installing and deleting and updating and reinstalling programs.

My problem is that I do everything from the command line (or I should say that I am try to) and when I go back to the redhat button to open up the menu (like the start menu in windows) I find that I have numerous instances of the same thing and I cannot remove them because the 'remove this item' choice from a right click is greyed out.

Examples:
I have Email and Evolution Email (both launch the same appliction)
I have Web Browser and Mozilla Web Browser (both launch mozilla)

I am at a loss for figuring out how to clean up these menus. Any suggestions or direction?

Thank you in advance for the help.

Jim

Well, email and web browser only launch evolution and mozilla if these are your default web and mail programs... if you switch to say... thunderbird and firefox, then these icons will bring up those programs... if you want to remove them take a look in /usr/share/applications...

I'm not really sure, cause I haven't tried it yet (planning on it though) But I think what you need is this:

Don't know if they made any major changes for fedora.
