Choppy audio in Fedora 11

Is there a definitive/simple way to fix the issue of choppy audio in Fedora 11 when moving windows, changing focus effectively doing anything on the computer?

What model sound card do you have?

There are known issues with Fedora 11 stock audio in general, and confirmed issues with Creative Labs products and Fedora 11 audio, especially SBLive and Audigy cards have trouble with it.

There are some simple steps so solve this - you can just auto-update your Fedora, or you can do some other steps - see http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=734408 as well.

Note thought that this is for NO sound at all, don't know if it will help for choppy sound, and the steps detailed in the URL above will ONLY work right for stock Fedora 11 with a Creative SBLive and probably an Audigy card.

I'm not sure. It's an atom Z550chipset and the relevant bits from dmesg seem to be:

Code:
Linux version 2.6.29.4-167.fc11.i586 (mockbuild@x86-2.fedora.phx.redhat.com)
...
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_intel.c:1101: Too big adjustment 32: adj=128, bytes=128, size=4096, periods=32

hda-intel: Invalid position buffer, using LPIB read method instead.
hda-intel: IRQ timing workaround is activated for card #0. Suggest a bigger bdl_pos_adj.

Yikes ok, the fix that I know of (as I said) is to fix NO sound with the Creative SBLive 5.1 and the Audigy...

Can you try another distro and see if the sound problem persists?

You might also just try (as a kind of hail-mary-pass attempt) to disable PulseAudio, and see if it helps?

Code:
1. Become root in a terminal
2. Go to /etc/alsa
3. Rename the file pulse-default.conf to pulse-default.conf.bak
4. killall pulseaudio (put this in /etc/rc.local, since the system will restart pulseaudio each time it is booted)
