Im trying to download some drivers for my dell 250N laptop cos the screen resolution is a bit crap, if i select anything otherwise than 800x600 the screen looks all messed up. I have visited ATI (the makers of the my laptop monitor) but the problem is I dont know how to select the best package that fits my computer monitor. I know its a FireGL 5100 but I dont know if its a 86 or a x86_64 system im running. From the website it says that i should donwload and run check.sh......how do i do that.

Are you using xorg? If so, you could use the 'xorgconfig' command to fine-tune your setup. It asks you some questions (they are pretty simple and explained well) to get your monitor, mouse, graphics card, and things configured. I'd try that first.

Also, have you checked the HCL? That might be a better starting point.
