Changing installation source

Hi,

I've just installed fc4 on a number of workstations, some using a cd, and others using an nfs share. If I need to add any programs (e.g Samba server) to the machines how can I specify that they use a different nfs share from now on?

Many thanks

Not sure if I understood your question correctly.

You can copy the RPMs to the server you want to add packages. OR
You can set up a FTP/HTTP server. RPM supports FTP/HTTP. OR
You can also copy the RPMs on one of the NFS shares, mount it on the system you want to install the packages.

Apologies if I was not clear. What I have done is to install fc4 on a pc using the cdroms. This pc has been added to a classroom setup where the install files are on an nfs share on another machine. Let us say I wanted to add samba to the installation. I go to Desktop - System Settings - Add Applications. I then get a list of all packages that can be installed. When I select the package and try and install I am prompted to insert a CD. What I want to do is point to the nfs share at this point.

SuSE has a setting in YaST that allows me to change the source of the installation, and I just wondered if fc4 had a similar setting or not.

Thanks.

You can setup a local YUM repository and use that to install packages on your machines.
