cant see windows drives in fedora3


plz help me i cant see my partioned drives with windows 98/XP in fedora3. I have searched /etc/fstab file ,but could not find anything about C:,D: drives.As i have found that fedora doesnot have nfts .Will i be able to see drives in fedora.

You can always try to mount them manualy. But than you must know which device file is associated with your win drive. If windows are on first partition of your master drive, try this:

mount /dev/hda1 /mnt

where /mnt is an existing dir on you hard drive under linux. Then just dir to that directory and see if it has succesfully mounted.
Hope it's a usefull direction.

mount -t ext3 iocharset=utf8 /dev/hda1 /mnt/Your Dir

mystery drives

i have cheked the fstab file of etc/fstab/

it reads like this

# This file is edited by fstab-sync - see 'man fstab-sync' for details
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 / ext3 defaults 1 1
LABEL=/boot /boot ext3 defaults 1 2
none /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/hdc /media/cdrecorder auto pamconsole,fscontext=system_ubject_r:removable_t,ro,exec,noauto,managed 0 0
/dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto pamconsole,fscontext=system_ubject_r:removable_t,exec,noauto,managed 0 0
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
so wat to do now
i have even tried fdisk-1 in command window.

plz tell me in deatail as im new to linux platform

This website provides the RPMs in order for NTFS partitions to be read.

/dev/hda1 /mnt/Windows ntfs auto,users,ro,umask=022 0 0
That was my fstab entry before I dumped Windows. Make sure you create the mountpoint to wherever you are going to mount it.
