Did you install Fedora's version of Totem, coz it's crippled. You may need to install totem-xine using apt or yum. You can get apt from the extras section of the Fedora Core rpm repository. You will also need to get win32 codecs from xine's nightly builds page for playing ms media files and libdvdcss to be able to play DVD's. You can even use the xine-lib packages from there and then compile totem on your own.

Well, Thanks for responding..
Yes first i did install totem player from installation disk of FC3 from "Add/Remove Application"

Then I found a guide about how to install real-player 10. i installed it.. nothing happened. I mean i couldnt play mpg files.. and also avi files..

then i found http://heidelberg.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=803 this web page
downloaded "totem-xine-0.99.22-1.1.fc3.fr.src.rpm" this..

Code:

[root@beloveds beloveds]# rpm -ivh totem-xine-0.99.22-1.1.fc3.fr.src.rpm
warning: totem-xine-0.99.22-1.1.fc3.fr.src.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID e42d547b
1:totem-xine            warning: user machbuild does not exist - using root
warning: group machbuild does not exist - using root
########################################### [100%]
warning: user machbuild does not exist - using root
warning: group machbuild does not exist - using root

happened..

now, i open a mpg file it gives this:

Code:

The Application "totem" has quit unexpectedly.

You can inform the developers of what happened to help them fix it.  Or you can restart the application right now.

I informed.. :)

Then I found "http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/" from your post and downloaded "w32codec-0.52-1.i386.rpm"

Code:

[root@beloveds beloveds]# rpm -ivh w32codec-0.52-1.i386.rpm
Preparing...                ########################################### [100%]
  1:w32codec              ########################################### [100%]

again "The Application "totem" has quit unexpectedly."
I tried to open in Real Player.. again same..

In my post I mentioned that you should install using apt/synaptic to prevent your pckages from being broken. Anyway go to freshrpms, download apt and synaptic for your version of Fedora, install them both (apt first). Run "synaptic" from the Fedora menu then update it's package listing (There is a refresh button there somewhere). Once the package list has been retrieved, search for totem, a list will show up, select from the list what you want to install. There is a lot of documentation on the web regarding apt/synaptic.

The totem-xine package you installed the first time is a source rpm and not a binary rpm. It's meant to be rebuilt as a binary.
