cant hear sound and cant connect to internet.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop that is running Windows XP Pro SP2 aswell as FC4 Linux. They both boot up just fine, no problems in running them, but my Linux does not have any sound. It reconizes the sound card but nothing comes out. It is not muted or turned down because the bars are all the up and I see it. The sound device is a SigmaTel C-Major Audio.

Also I cant seem to connect to the internet when I am using Linux, I have a Intel Pro/Wireless 2200 B/G wireless adapter in my laptop. This system runs perfect in Windows XP Pro so I know that the hardware is fine.

dunno about the internet....
but for the sound have you tried going to Applications>sound and video> volume control

in volume control go to Edit>prefrences

in prefrences scroll down to Audigy Analog / Digital output jack.... check it

then click on the switches tab and check the Audigy Analog / Digital output jack box.....

hope that works it worked for me...

I'll take a guess on the internet but I doubt that it'll work....

I have ethernet so what I did was go to Desktop>system settings>network and I activated which ever device would activate...

hope one of my suggestions helps

Unhappy

Hi I tried to go the prefs that you said, but those options for the Audigy Analog / Digital output jackwere not there. My wired 10/100tx ethernet port is working fine, it tries to find a dhcp server for an IP address, but I dont have a cable in that port because I have a wireless network. I tried to activate my wireless card inside my laptop because it is listed, but it is unactive. When I try to activate it it said that it is not present. I have tried this in my own account aswell as the Root. When I boot into Windows XP PRO, everything works perfect. So it is still offline and silent.
