Cannot change desktop background
Hello,
I use Fedora 11 with all the updates up till now. I cannot change my desktop background using either System -> Preferences -> Appearance or gnome-control-center. I installed gconf-editor and checked the settings and everything seems normal and background is set to the wallpaper i desired but on the desktop nothing changes. What is wrong? Can you help me?
Thanks,
Ekin

Visit http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/
Right click the photo and select "Set as desktop background" - does this work?

Just to be clear - a) it has never worked or - b) it stopped working after an update

From System>Preferences>Appearance>Background you should see the attached screen - do you?.
Clicking on any of the backgrounds should take effect immediately (no need to click Make Default) - does this happen?

Create & log on as a new user, System>Administration>Users & Groups>Add User - does it work now?

I added new user and logged in and changing desktop background worked. Then I logged in as my regular user and I could managed to change the background.

Great - I was going suggest downloading gconf-cleaner (yum install gconf-cleaner) if the new user was OK and the regular user still failed but don't bother if it's now working.
