Can I input other languages use SCIM on an English session?

On FC5 login screen, I choose English - USA as default language for my session. But after login, when I do "Ctrl+Space", it did not start SCIM. If I choose a SCIM supported language before login, all the locale are changed to this language. Now, "Ctrl+Space" works fine. It starts the input engine.

Does this mean that I can not input foreign language if I am in an English locale or session with Fedora Core 5?

I believe your user environment has to be in a UTF-8 language setting in order for SCIM to work. I don't think supports any non-unicode language. It should work if you set your locale to en_US.UTF-8, for example.

It's a bit late by now, but I've been checking out the scim wiki page. The installation pages there might interest you. There's an FC-specific page, and the "all" page also has some useful information. Check it out.
