I can't do what the title says, what should I do?
When I try to logout, the monitor turns off (red light appears on the monitor telling it is not active) and nothing happens. I have to restart the computer to make it work again, and for each time, I check the file system....tedious work actually.
What should I do to logout and reboot easily?
donīt understand! you canīt logout from X and the only way rebooting your machine is to do a cold reset?
separate from this, why donīt you use FC2 final ?????
I dont have a fast connection to d/l the final.
And yes, I have to make a COLD reset to make the compuer reboot again.
When I ask for a logout, it does not take me out of X, but it kills the computer.
When I had that type of problem the screen would go black. I then would have to repeatedly hit CTL-ALT-BACKSPACE. Some times maybe 8 or 10 times. Eventually the command line would show up. I'd then type halt to shut down correctly and safely. (Note: Did not have this problem if I used shut down instead of log out.) Did a complete "new" (not upgrade) install of FC2 with the drive being formated solved all my problems.
Do think you should use final versions only. Test versions are only for experts. I don't have a DSL line either, so I buy the disks for 99 cents plus shipping. One place to buy is www.edmunds-enterprises.com
