Question Can´t run shortcut that opens a terminal

Hi, I was trying to see if anyone was able to help me with a little problem I have, I´m new in linux and tried fedora, I managed to creat a shortcut for the terminal

System>System Settings>Keyboard>Shortcuts>Launchers>Launch Terminal

but my problem is when I try to create a manual shortcut
I type

Name: terminal
Command: /usr/bin/gnome-terminal

and I add a customize shortcut for the command, but when trying to use it it brings me a dialogue box wich says:

Quote:
error while trying to run (/usr/bin/gnome-terminal) wich is linked to the key (<Shift>F1)
my doubt is that if I typed incorrectly the command or wich is the command for opening the terminal
I´m doing this on a live cd of Fedora 16 maybe that is the problem.

Thanks in advance

Depends if you have gnome-terminal installed. Are you using KDE? Gnome? If KDE you might want to change that to "konsole" instead of "gnome-terminal".

Its gnome 3, but since I had some trouble using Fedora (couldnt initialize properly and it started in failbackmode, maybe this has nothing to do)

PS: I´m doing this on a virtual machine.

Yeah, maybe you'll never get that to work. If I may ask, I'm curious. Do you not have a machine you can dedicate to Linux? Or possibly dual boot with Windows if that is imperitive you have Windows also? I ask because boot cds of linux are actually meant as an introduction, IMHO. Any configuration changes you make are lost at shutdown. I noticed you're a new member to these forums. How long have you used Linux? And by the way, welcome to LinuxQuestions!

Yes, I tested the live cd to see for my self. I´m a new user on linux, I was planning already to do dual boot or just dedicate it for linux, but that might take a while since I am a little busy right now, hence I tried the live cd to get used to linux.
