I've installed FC2 on my IBM Thinkpad, but during installation, there was no option for a mouse, so by default, I assume it placed in PS/2 (cos is works) and whatever else controls the trackpoint (I'm guessing PS/2 as well). But by plugging in my USB mouse, I get nothing. It's not that USB doesn't work, it works perfect with my portable HDD, but not the mouse? From this book on Fedora 2, it talked about setting up the mouse from menu > system settings > mouse. But there's no mouse option! And the alternative was in command line, type: redhat-config-mouse. That didn't work either. How do I get these settings installed? I'm an absolute newbie. Any help would be really great. Thanks.

I will post an working (on a Laptop) XF86Config - if you are using XFree it can serve you as an example...

The important points are in the first section "ServerLayout" and in section "InputDevice" - there are two of them related to the mouse (the last two) - one for the ps/2 and one for the usb-mouse.
These two sections ("ServerLayout" and "InputDevice" correspond to each other) - you'll figure it out - you might even just copy and paste and see if it works
...restart X after changing and make a backup of your /etc/X11/XF86Config before changing anything...
