Broadcom Wireless Problems.

Fedora 18 /KDE

Had Wireless working after Install but did update and it quit working.

I have kmod-wl kernel-3.6.10-4, working in kernel-3.6.10-4.

The driver in lspci for wireless is b43-pci-bridge, but lsmod shows a b43legacy being loaded.

with kernel updates you need to reinstall kernel-mod drivers

mickeyboa 09-14-2013 05:23 PM

Is this what you referring to, they are already installed.

I'm beginning to believe they don't have a driver for this old Broadcom card anymore.

uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 3.6.10-4.fc18.i686 #1 SMP Tue Dec 11 18:24:49 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

fedora is also notorious for being early on the kernel updates and very LATE on driver updates that depend on a version of the kernel ( kmods)

in the next 3 or so days there might be a update to the driver for that kernel

if you boot into the old kernel ( fedora keeps 3 or 5 old versions ) dose the wi-fi card work

mickeyboa 09-14-2013 05:47 PM

I was in latest kernel 3.10.10-100 and went back to 3.6.10-4 with same results .

I have yum-versionlock setup to no longer upgrade to any kernel above 3.10.10-100 .

It all starts here;

Prepare to do a lot of reading.
I have track down the Firmware driver for BCM4306 ver.2
