Hello!

How big does /boot have to be in fedora?

The reason I ask:)

new install
dual pIII 866
20 scsi fujitsu
512MB RDRAM

Files System (using disk druid)
/boot 102
/ 6000
swap 1020

I get an error after the installer formats the drive. Something about not being able to transfer the install image. You must be out of disk space. The reason I don't automatically do it is that I want the excess space for LFS.

Please Help!

I have tried over and over all different ways and it still hasn't worked. I finally just tried Libranet 2.8.1 and it worked.

Any ideas?

My /boot is 100MB big .. usually the install image will be temporarily copied to non root partition during installation (might be wrong here, but from my previous installation, the image was copied to my /home partition). How about creating a /home partition and I guess it is a good idea having /home partition by it own in case you're going to upgrade or change distribution later on.

Alright I figured it out! YEAY

I got this from the unoffical fedora faq. http://fedora.artoo.net/faq

It seems to be a DMA issue. After some more research i noticed that the bulk of the issues arose from people using ide cdroms and scsi drives. I used the 'linux ide=nodma' switch and that is what worked for me!

here is the quote answer from the faq:

Q: What's wrong with my Intel D8xx (D845/D865/D875) motherboard or similar IDE controller (disk space error)?
A: Updated 13 Nov 2003 If you get an error message with the installer, you need to do linux allowcddma. The error message that some people get is: An error occurred transferring the install image to your hard drive. You are probably out of disk space.
If this solution doesn't work, try linux ide=nodma.
