Running Fed 23 XFCE spin. Have not been able to get a blinking cursor or a bright (white preferred) cursor. Applications>Settings>Keyboard>Bdhvior
and checked and unchecked before reboot each and still getting no blinking cursor.
Have read that: xfconf-query -c xsettings -p /Net/CursorBlink -T
will turn on blinking but would like confirmation before I start making changes where I can't predict the result.
Also keep loosing the darn rectangular cursor due to dim colors provided by the system settings. Any help here appreciated.
what cursor are you talking about?
your (mouse) pointer?
or the blinking (or not) block/underscore you get when you open a terminal emulator?
for the latter, i would look into the terminal emulator's preferences first.
The block cursor. I have examined preferences of both terminal initiation points in the menu and they settings appear identical. Also there are NO settings there to control the blinking cursor. That appears in the Applications>Settings>Keyboard>Bdhvior. Have U used the xfconf-query command? Tried making the block cursor white but the system won't do it.
If you're using xfce4-terminal take a look at ~/.config/xfce4/terminal/terminalrc there is a setting there to control blinking cursor in the terminal window.
^ and the same setting should be available through xfce4-terminal's preferences.
not sure what "examined preferences of both terminal initiation points" is supposed to mean.
@Doug G: THANKS a TON!!!! Have it blinking.
The cursor code is 12 characters long. Setting the first 8 to all f's has given a brighter cursor. Again THANKS!!!!
@Doug G: Yes, that is true on my OS also. To find info on blinking cursor got to:
Applications>Settings>Keyboard and in the Behavior tab there is a check box for blinking cursor but I tried with/without checking it and rebooting and got no positive response so I am presuming it is a "bug" either in XFCE or F23. Again a big thanks.
