Audio CD Problem

I have searched the site for this but didn't find exactly what i needed so I am going to ask it. every time I insert an audio CD the audio player keeps saying "Drive Error" and it will not play audio no matter what format.

I had a similar problem before...got it to work, but I don't know what it was I did to get it working.

I know that audio cds are not mounted, but played instead. Maybe your cd drive is being mounted and needs a `umount` command. Check permissions on your cd drive too - you may not have the appropriate rights.

I did these things and my drive is working well now.

On a first guess, since I don't play audio & have not yet gotten into conversions, is ::
Is the Linux trying to auto-mount the CD? If so, I'd *think* that ou need to disable this.

A few seconds after you insert the audio CD, do ::
df -h
and see if the CD, /mnt/cd* or /media/cd*, shows up in the output.

also what he said! (azucaro -- and my thanks to you too for the extra thoughts! -- I'm learning too)

LOL,

I must have forgotten about posting this question, so now I'm finally reading it.

I have a new question for you;

A few seconds after you insert the audio CD, do ::
df -h

Robert G. Hays

what is that and where do you type it in?
