ATI Drivers, modprobe

I'm trying to install the ATI Drivers off thier website. I've gotten the correct version and everything, but when I ran thier rpm, I got an error, so I went to thier site to figure out how to manually kick off the install scripts.

As you can probably guess, it didn't go so well, here's the error output (it's the same output as when I tried the rpm)

[root@mail fglrx]# sh make_install.sh
- creating symlink
- recreating module dependency list
- trying a sample load of the kernel module
FATAL: Error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/2.6.9-1.667/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.ko): Operation not permitted
failed.

So I tried to do a modprobe fglrx and got the same message, so I tried a -f with it, same thing. Read the man page, did a modprobe -nv and here's that output:

insmod /lib/modules/2.6.9-1.667/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.ko

Ran that command, same error.

--edit--

found this line in /var/log/messages:

Feb 17 12:56:54 mail kernel: [fglrx:firegl_stub_register] *ERROR* Fire GL kernel
module has to be loaded prior to any other DRM kernel module!

so I checked my list of moduals installed; and here they are:

so uh, nevermind all that... figured it out. to install the ATI drivers, you need to go to init 3, rmmod radeon, then modprobe flgrx

cheers, hope this will help someone else :)

argh! stupid dual monitors not working.

ok, I've ran fglrxconfig a few times in init 3, and the tvout works perfectly, until a gui loads. I'm running xorg 6.8.1, with KDE (whatever version it is that comes with FC3). Whenever I run init 5, the tvout monitor turns black. the primary one runs fine, but thats it.

I don't really care if it's set up to clone, on big monitor, or whatever, as long as I can watch DVD's on my tv (computer is the only DVD player I have).

Any help is appreciated
